| Pecos River gives you operating principles not just for the workplace, but for personal life as well. When people participate they leave appreciating your investment in their growth. And so they open up a whole new set of their capabilities. All the trappings start to go away. Problems are addressed much faster. And people are less fearful about doing what needs to be done. One of the things thats changed for us is: people are willing to make mistakes in order to get where we want to go. We dont want to repeat them thats an important distinction. But knowing that its OK to experiment has opened us up to new alternatives and solutions that people would have considered too risky. Pecos River has helped us improve the speed and quality of our decisions. Everything that people made up their assumptions and their fears would interfere with the process of making quick, rational decisions, and exploring alternatives. Our sales organization has undergone a significant transformation. In structure, people and mentality. Pecos River has been a rallying point that makes sense. A common platform or underpinning for working together. Its provided a sense of stability and comfort in the midst of a major change effort. The quarter after we started working with Pecos River, we experienced the best sales results weve seen in three years. Do I think Pecos River was the only factor in our success? Of course, not. Do I think it was a significant factor in our improvement? Yes. Because it was the enabling factor in our change process. Its been our experience that Pecos Rivers instructors and facilitators are tremendously impactful teachers for a number of reasons. First, they create teaching moments. Second, they drive the learning deep so it sticks with you. And third, they provide instrumentality between learning and the workplace, which makes it easier to remember and apply the learning over and over. If youre looking for a silver bullet, or a quick fix, you wont find it with Pecos River (or anyone else for that matter). Thats an overly simplistic attitude. This is not a point in time activity. Like any effort that has real value, its part of an ongoing process. But its definitely worth the investment, not just because its good for people. But because its good for business. |
